The 74-year-old, who underwent a quintuple bypass surgery in March, insisted that he had no idea his arteries were closed.
Speaking to People, Reynolds said: "I was a heart attack waiting to happen. My doctor said I needed to undergo bypass surgery immediately. I went home and shaved then had the operation the next day."
Five days later, Reynolds was out of hospital and exercising. However, he had to miss the opening of his comedy A Bunch Of Amateurs.
He added: "I was in the hospital when it opened over there. I was sorry to have missed that, but I am happy that I am still alive to talk about it!"
