Bear Grylls was 'nude when he met wife'

Bear Grylls has said that he was naked when he first met his future wife.

The adventurer had been skinny dipping off the Scottish coast, when a wave swept his clothes away. Fortunately, Shara, who he later married in 2000, was able to help him find his socks and pants.

Grylls told The Guardian: "I was on the north coast of Scotland on New Year's Day, training for Everest. Every New Year's I skinny dip and a wave took all my clothes so I was running around trying to find my socks and pants. Shara was walking along the beach and she must have felt sorry for me. She didn't smell me from 100 miles but she probably could have."

The survivalist, who says he eats "testicles all day", also added that his wife wouldn't kiss him if she knew what had been in his mouth.

"I work on the basis of minimal information," he said. "If she knew she wouldn't kiss me. But she doesn't until she sees it on TV. I get back and she goes, 'How's your week?' and I go, 'Fine, fine, fine'. Ignorance is bliss."
