Denise Van Outen is said to be 'ecstatic' following the birth of her first child earlier today.

The presenter and husband Lee Mead welcomed daughter Betsy into the world at 12.24pm.

The baby, weighing 7lb 10oz, is well, as is Van Outen, who is "ecstatic" following the new addition to her family, according to PA. Mead and Van Outen, who met on reality TV show Any Dream Will Do, married in the Seychelles last year.

Van Outen, 35, said: "We are proud parents and very ecstatic."

Betsy is said to look like her father as she has brown, curly hair.

The Sunday Mirror's celebrity and entertainment columnist Dean Piper earlier congratulated the couple on his Twitter page: "I'm so pleased for Denise and Lee - they're a great couple and this little bubba will really complete them. That's all - for now."
