Bob Geldof has announced that Live 8 concerts will now take place in three extra cities.
As well as the previously-known venues of London, Philadelphia, Berlin, Paris and Rome, the former Boomtown Rat today announced that there would be further gigs in Tokyo, Toronto and Johannesburg.
Reuters quote him as saying: "Mandela, if he's well enough, will bring it to the world."
Geldof also denied validity of rumours that Michael Jackson would take to the Live 8 stage to aid his ailing bank balance. He said that the organisers had not been in touch with the recently-acquitted singer, nor has Jackson contacted them.
