Wil Anderson has caused controversy over Twitter posts again.

The Australian comedian, who was criticised for posting derogatory comments about stars such as Matt Preston, John Mayer and Gabriella Cilmi during the Logie Awards broadcast, has now started tweeting about politician Tony Abbott.

Anderson wrote: "Tony Abbott admits he sometimes lies. Only problem is that every time he does, his ears grow.

"Tony Abbott seen as more 'honest' than [Prime Minister Kevin] Rudd. Public obviously think he is lying about being a liar."

Anderson also joked about teenager Jessica Watson, who recently returned from sailing around the world, saying: "Jessica Watson to meet PM. Abbott also wants to meet her, but only after she has gone through processing on Christmas Island."

Christmas Island is a territory in the Indian Ocean where illegal immigrants are detained.
