Officials want to hear the supermodel's testimony about the "blood diamond" she allegedly received as a gift from Charles Taylor, the former president of Liberia.
Mia Farrow told prosecutors that Taylor had given the diamond to Campbell when they were both guests at his home in 1997.
Taylor is on trial in The Hague on charges of instigating murder, rape, mutilation, sexual slavery and conscription of child soldiers during the country's wars with Sierra Leone.
War crimes prosecutors allege that Taylor instigated the acts in a cause to win control of Sierra Leone's diamond mines during the 1991 to 2002 civil war.
"Ms Campbell's testimony is necessary as there is evidence that Ms Campbell was given rough diamonds by the accused (Taylor) in September 1997," read a prosecution motion filed with the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Prosecutor Brenda Hollis claimed in January that the diamond Taylor allegedly gave to Campbell was taken from Sierra Leone rebels.
Taylor denied the claims.
