Cruz raises $333k for Haiti relief fund

Penelope Cruz has raised $333,000 (£232,000) to aid Haiti relief.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress, who organised the charity event in Cannes together with jewellery maker Chopard, raised the money by auctioning off a selection of celebrity red carpet gowns.

Other stars such as Scarlett Johansson, Diane Kruger, Naomi Watts, Charlize Theron and Demi Moore, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow also donated their old dresses.

The proceeds were given to Sean Penn's Haitian Relief Organisation, which he created earlier this year following the Haiti earthquake.
