Bono undergoes emergency back surgery

U2 frontman Bono has reportedly undergone emergency spinal tap surgery.

The 50-year-old had the surgery after suffering an injury while preparing for the band's upcoming tour, reports BBC News.

He was treated at a neurosurgery clinic in Munich and is expected to return home to Ireland in a few days to recuperate.

U2's June 3 US concert date has been postponed, leaving other shows in doubt including their headlining gig at Glastonbury Festival on June 25.

Tour date adjustments will be announced when they are finalised, according to a post on the group's official website.

"We will make plans to reinstate the dates as soon as possible," said U2 manager Paul McGuinness.
