James Brown will perform at the Scottish Live 8 event at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium next Wednesday.
The Godfather of Soul joins the likes of Annie Lennox, Travis, Bono, Texas, Wet Wet Wet, the Corrs and The Proclaimers on the bill.
Rte.ie quotes spokeswoman Jo Philips as saying: "We are delighted to confirm that the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, will be joining the line-up at Murrayfield on Wednesday, July 6."
Brown told a press conference: "I know that people need help and I want to be a part of it in any way I can."
