Elton sues newspapers for libel

Sir Elton John is taking the Sunday Times and the Daily Mail to court over libellous comments.

The Sunday Times published claims originally made in the Daily Mail last week (24 June) regarding the singer's behaviour at his annual White Tie and Tiara party held for the benefit of the Elton John Aids Foundation.

BBC News reports that Sir Elton's spokesman has dismissed the claims, which he feels have had a detrimental effect on the charity's reputation, as 'categorically untrue,' and has stated that more legal actions may follow if the allegations are printed elsewhere.
