The 79-year-old pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal mischief, trespassing, burglary, and carrying a weapon while intoxicated and without a permit, reports The AP.
The actor's attorney A. Thomas Waterfall has been working with prosecutors to secure a deal which will keep him out of jail in favour of an accelerated rehabilitation programme.
"I don't believe that jail is anything that would be of any use to Mr Torn [or] to the citizens of the state of Connecticut. I just don't see that as being a reasonable resolution to this case," Waterfall said.
Torn is scheduled to reappear in court on June 4.
