French officials "tried to kill" star's dog

Airport officials in Paris reportedly wanted to exterminate Scarlett Johansson's dog.

The Chihuahua, Maggie, was on her way to join her mistress in London via Paris airport, but seemingly would never have left Charles de Gaulle airport if officials had had their way. On her arrival, they felt that Maggie was unfit to travel and should instead be put down.

A distressed Scarlett, on hearing about Maggie's potentially horrible fate, speedily sent people out to Paris to beg for her life.

A source told the Sunday Telegraph: "Maggie was on her way to join Scarlett via Paris but workers at Charles de Gaulle airport felt she was not fit and wanted to exterminate her.

"Mercifully, they relented and one very relieved Chihuahua has now been reunited with its owner in London."

The actress is currently in the English capital filming a Woody Allen film.
