The Loose Women star is currently promoting life story Oh, Carol!, which sees her spill the beans on her wild past and turbulent marriage to Chris Evans, which ended in 1998.
Speaking about the project on This Morning today, McGiffin explained: "They do say start with what you know, and obviously I do know myself quite well. It's always been on my list of things to do. My New Year's resolutions list, going back to about 1980 or something, has always said 'write a book'.
"But I've never had the real motivation and someone saying, 'Do you want to write a book? Here's the deadline'. It was scary."
Asked if she has any ideas for future releases, she replied: "Quite a few actually. This has given me the impetus to do another one."
Oh, Carol! was released today with an RRP of £16.99.
