The child actor was rushed to Utah Valley Regional Medical Centre on Thursday after he suffered a fall in which he hit his head, the actor's brother-in-law said.
A spokesman for the Diff'rent Strokes star said that he suffered severe bleeding in his skull when he fell.
The 42-year-old is said to be slipping in and out of consciousness as his condition worsens.
Coleman, who has a history of health problems, suffered a seizure in February on the set of The Insider.
