Doherty: "I was high on adrenalin and nerves"

Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has admitted that he was "high on adrenalin and nerves" when he sang with Elton John at the Live 8 gig at the weekend.

In response to critics who slated his performance, he told The Sun he had just had a rook with Kate Moss and was "agitated."

He said: "I'm clean of drugs. I have no choice - I have had an implant put into me. Live 8 was the biggest crowd I've performed to. I enjoyed it but everybody has been knocking me and that's put the dampers on it a bit."

He added: "I wasn't all over the place on drugs. Sometimes when I'm at my most sober people still say that I'm on drugs. I was high on adrenalin and nerves."
