The AP reports that Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim was entered into the pretrial programme on Friday by Philadelphia Municipal Judge Georganne Daher. The programme, which requires his attendance at a total of 24 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, was part of an arrangement that his lawyers secured with prosecutors.
He was arrested in January during a United Airlines flight in which he stole cash, cameras, and other overhead items from fellow passengers.
All charges are due to be cleared from Shepherd-Oppenheim's record upon completion of the programme.
