Ryan Phillippe 'still sad about divorce'

Ryan Phillipe has revealed he still feels sad about his divorce from Reese Witherspoon in 2006.

The actor admitted his feelings in an interview with Men's Health magazine.

"I still have sadness about my divorce. But my aim is always to progress - to be a better father, a better boyfriend, a better friend, a better actor," he said.

In an interview with Contactmusic, the film star, who had two children with his ex-wife, also said that he is inspired by his family.

He said: "My grandfather is my hero. He fought on the ground in Berlin in World War II. As a soldier he was decorated. And he came back to America and fell into alcoholism, nearly lost his family and came out the other side.

"To learn about his struggle - then to see the man he became, made him my hero."
