Geldof speech results in binned food

A speech by Sir Bob Geldof at a charity function reportedly lasted so long that all the food prepared for the event had be thrown out.

Chefs had to bin 300 salmon dishes after being told not to serve them when the 58-year-old was speaking, reports the News Of The World.

Guests at the £570-a-head event in aid of St Vincent's Cancer Trust, had to wait as a new meal was arranged.

"It was ironic for a man who has made a career out of campaigning for the world's starving," a guest told the paper.

Sir Bob was apparently unconcerned, saying: "It's not my f**king problem."

The event organiser confirmed there had been a delay but said they did not know the cause.
