BBC News understands that the body of the late former Stereophonics drummer, who passed away yesterday in his home, will undergo various toxicology tests.
Cable's post-mortem examination has already been carried out, and an inquest into the star's death is due to be opened.
South Wales Police, who originally stated that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, claims the results could take up to six weeks.
Kelly Jones, Cable's former bandmate, paid tribute to the drummer after hearing the news.
