Ja Rule gets August court date

A judge has scheduled an August hearing for gun possession charges against Ja Rule.

The rapper was found by police with a loaded semi-automatic gun stashed in his car after a New York concert three years ago, reports The AP.

He previously requested a separate hearing regarding DNA evidence found on the weapon, which was refused by the court.

The trial will begin on August 18. Ja Rule has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
