Katie Holmes has responded to claims that she is being pressurised to join the Church of Scientology.
The actress has insisted that her plans to convert to the sect have not been influenced by fiance Tom Cruise.
"That's really ludicrous because, I mean, you have to know Tom," Holmes explained. "He is the most loving, generous man."
Holmes has also assured fans that the cult will still allow her to remain a practising Catholic.
"I was raised Catholic and I've always had faith in God," she told W magazine. "It gives me security."
Tom and Katie are planning to marry at the sect's headquarters in Los Angeles. Celebrity Scientologists John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley have been invited to the ceremony.
