Scarlett Johannsson was more than willing to go topless in her new film, refusing to wear the bra advised by the director.
Speaking at the premiere of The Island, director Michael Bay recounted a time during filming where the crew was ready to shoot a scene but Scarlett was missing. When he tracked the actress down in her trailer, he found that the wardrobe arrangements were frustrating her.
"She's standing there and she says, 'I'm not wearing this cheap... bra. I'm going naked.'"
"I said, 'It's PG-13, you have to wear the bra.'"
Scarlett insisted that she would rather wear nothing in the name of realism, explaining: 'Women don't normally sleep in a bra. I can't wake up in this scene wearing a bra, it's ridiculous'.
The Island, also starring Ewan McGregor, hits U.K. screens on August 12.
