Jessica Simpson plans to follow in Angelina Jolie's footsteps by adopting within the next year.
The Evening Echo reports that the singer-cum-actress first tried to adopt when she was just 16. She travelled to Mexico and on visiting an orphanage there became inspired to become a teen mother for her birthday.
This plan was foiled, however, through inability to cross the border with a child. She explained: "That's what I wanted for my birthday but I couldn't legally get a baby across the Mexican border."
Older and wiser, the 25-year-old star revealed: "I'll end up doing something which will touch somebody in some way that's good… through orphanages."
