The actress, who has two sons with partner Liev Schreiber, has revealed that despite motherhood being the "hardest" job, it is also the most "rewarding".
Speaking to Glamour, the 41-year-old said: "I didn't ever think I would be having kids this late. Then two under the age of two in diapers - it's the hardest thing I've ever done, but the most rewarding."
As for balancing her career while being a parent, she added: "I didn't really worry about having time off. My career started late, so by the time I was ready to have children, I felt like I had enough body of work under my belt. I was ready to say, 'Okay, let's slow this down a little bit'."
Watts recently revealed that she was forced to attend boot camp in preparation for her role as CIA operative Valerie Plame in Fair Game.
