Robert Pattinson 'would like to have date'

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has reportedly revealed that he never goes on dates anymore.

The actor - who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the blockbuster franchise - was asked by Today show special correspondent Jenna Bush Hager whether he would like to "settle down and marry" in the future.

"I don't think settling down should be the same thing as getting married," he replied. "I mean, I guess, settling down just means not sleeping with everybody, but I don't like the idea of having to settle."

He continued: "I would like to go on a date - I'm just saying, I'm just putting that out there! I never go on dates anymore."

Bush Hager - the daughter of former president George W. Bush - also asked Pattinson about his relationship with co-star Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) and whether they shared the same rivalry off screen.

"[We're] very competitive," he joked. "I always want to have better hair than him, a better six pack! He's great. I've been close with him throughout the whole series."

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - the third instalment in the saga - sees the newly-engaged Edward and Bella (Kristen Stewart) having to deal with a slew of mysterious killings in nearby Seattle.

It opens June 30 in the US and July 8 in the UK.
