The actor, who currently stars in the A-Team reboot, told People that it had initially been strange when he saw "untrue" stories.
When asked if it is "weird" reading about himself, he replied: "At first it was shocking how untrue everything was. Dates with women I've never had, houses I've never owned in areas I could never afford.
"I was one of those people who believed what they read [in supermarket tabloids]. Except for the aliens and stuff."
Cooper previously spoke out about false media reports, branding past speculation that he was romantically involved with Jennifer Aniston "crazy" and insisting that it "never happened".
Representatives for the actor and rumoured girlfriend Renee Zellweger recently dismissed reports that the couple are planning to marry.
