Robert Pattinson has joked that he would propose with a pre-nuptial agreement "next" to him.

The Twilight star was asked by Extra's Lauren Sanchez how he imagined he would pop the question.

"With a pre-nup right next to me!" he quipped.

Sanchez then joked that it was a "good answer" but "not very romantic" and questioned if he would get down on one knee.

"[There's] something about kneeling down - because I had to kneel down so much in the Twilight movies - it always looks really awkward," he replied. "I've actually got quite long thighs and stuff so it doesn't work.

"I'd have to go on both knees to do it or just sit on he floor! That would be quite fun!"

The second instalment in the series, New Moon, saw vampire Edward Cullen (Pattinson) proposing to mortal girlfriend Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart).

Pattinson recently revealed that he would love the opportunity to go on a date, saying that it has been a while since he took anybody out.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is released June 30 in the US and July 8 in the UK.
