Kate and the children stand to earn more than $700,000 for their participation in the reality show Kate Plus Eight.
Jon, who does not appear on the show, still earns more than $70,000 under contract with TLC. His contract states that he is no longer to feature on the programme.
"The reason you don't see Jon looking for a job or doing embarrassing interviews is that he is still on the TLC payroll," a source told Popeater.
The insider added: "Jon is basically getting paid to keep his mouth shut and go away. Although it must sting him to know his kids are earning more money than he is."
The source said that $200,000 of the family's earnings for the series is paid directly to the children.
