Gok Wan has confessed that he has just seven weeks to write 70,000 words of his autobiography.

The fashion guru landed a deal to release his life story earlier in the year, but his TV commitments have left him with little time to work on the project.

Speaking on The Five O'Clock Show, Wan explained: "I've just come out of three and a half years of production and so I haven't had any time. With all the shows, I do all the fashion producing as well and everything else. It takes up a lot of time.

"I've done about 11,000 words and now I've got seven weeks to do another 70,000."

Asked whether he will hire a ghost writer to help, the star replied: "No, no, no. Absolutely not. It's my story. The way I look at it is, I can only tell it one way and it involves my friends and my family who I want to protect when I'm writing it. If I give it to someone else, it's only going to become sensational. I don't want it to be that, I want it to be honest."

The book - titled Through Thick And Thin - is scheduled for release in October.
