Lenny Kravitz banned partygoers from smoking at London club Kabaret's Prophecy on Wednesday.
Kravitz, a prized customer of the club, voiced concerns that a smoky atmosphere would damage his singing and so the management banned guests from lighting up apart from at the bar.
A source told The Mirror: "Lenny doesn't like to make a fuss, but his voice is his livelihood and he's prepared to go to any lengths to protect it. Some customers were a bit taken aback and a few selfish, rowdy guys flouted the ban.
"Lenny's flunkies patrolled the club asking people to respect his wishes. A compromise was reached and those who were desperate to smoke could do so - but only at the bar."
A spokesperson for the venue explained: "We threw a party for Lenny and at his request the club banned smoking from all areas except the bar, in order to protect his voice. We always try to accommodate our guests."
