Boyle, Daldry confirmed for 2012 Olympics

Boyle, who helmed the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting, will be the artistic director of the opening ceremony. Billy Elliot filmmaker Daldry will oversee all ceremonies at the sporting event.
"It's a completely unique opportunity to contribute to what I'm sure are going to be a fantastic games," said Boyle. "I'm really excited to be involved."
Daldry said of his appointment: "Myself and my co-executive producers will ensure there is creative continuity across all four ceremonies, that the public have real engagement and that we continue to attract into the key roles the best talent in the world. I'm delighted to be part of the team."
Live TV events director Hamish Hamilton, Mark Fisher and Catherine Ugwu have also joined the team that will stage London's opening and closing ceremonies.
