DS Icon: William 'Mr Feeny' Daniels

There are some lessons in life that you can't learn in school or from your parents. Sometimes there are things which only TV can truly explain. For many, the lessons learned from Zippy, Bungle and George on Rainbow were invaluable. Others still cherish the words and wisdom of The A-Team. However, in the case of DS, perhaps the biggest influence on our tender years was Boy Meets World headteacher and all-round good guy Mr Feeny. Saved By The Bell's Mr Belding may have been a loveable cuddly buffoon, but Feeny was the sour-faced head every school kid really craved.

Played by William Daniels, Feeny was the centre point for the coming of age high school/college comedy. Acting as the strict disciplinarian, mentor, father figure, he was the fountain of all knowledge on subjects as varied and deep as education, girls, love and life. The antics and high-jinks of the Boy Meets World whippersnappers Corey, Shawn, Topanga and Eric would have been childish horseplay and banal TV viewing without Feeny's words of wisdom and wry sense of humour to smooth them over. The character was also fortunate that he was around in the last decade when it was still acceptable for an old man to spend the majority of his time hanging out with impressionable school kids.
