The Treme actor - who debuted a slimmer look at the AFI Tribute To Mike Nichols last week - spoke about getting healthy during an appearance on David Letterman's show last night.
"I'd get off Roseanne and lose 60lbs every spring," he explained. "But I got too fond of the corn and barley and just started missing it too much, and that screwed everything up so I just gained it all back and some every year."
When asked if his family had been concerned, he joked: "[They'd say] you are breaking furniture for Lord's sake! Lighten up!"
Letterman then asked Goodman if he had a target weight, prompting the actor to quip: "30lbs... Whatever is healthy and right. I'm not going nuts. I'm not going to look like Paris Hilton or anything like that."
He added that he feels good and it will be an "ongoing process" for the rest of his life.
