Police foiled attempted Live 8 attack

Police put a stop to an "amateurish" attack on the Scottish Live 8 gig, reports 6 Music.
Apparently, a group of individuals hoped to instill panic in the 50,000-strong audience by showering coloured dust on them as they gathered at the awareness-raising event.
Police frightened the party-poopers away when they went to investigate on discovering that the first three rockets had failed to launch successfully from a railway embankment 750 yards from Murrayfield Stadium.
There is now an appeal for witnesses of the gang fleeing the embankment, or of people seen with purple dye on their hands.
