Hugh Grant speaks about loss of mother
Published Sunday, Jul 31 2005, 11:18 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly
Hugh Grant has spoken about his late mother's battle with cancer, the Sunday Mirror reports today.
The actor agreed to contribute to a book entitled What Can I Do To Help?, advising family and friends of cancer sufferers on how to cope.
"I got bored and went back to tormenting her - my personal favourite being secretly activating her hospital bed so that the head and legs both lifted to put her in an amusing jack-knife position," Grant wrote.
He joked, "I blow-dried her hair on the day before she died, which was frankly not the success I had hoped for, and which may - I now concede - have finished her off."
Grant was approached by Deborah Hutton, who decided to write the book after being diagnosed with lung cancer last year. She passed away last month, a day after her book was published.
Cherie Blair, Elton John and Gloria Hunniford have also contributed.
