Justin Hawkins almost left Darkness

Published Tuesday, Aug 2 2005, 09:12 BST | By Daniel Saney
Justin Hawkins has revealed that he almost left The Darkness to concentrate wholly on a solo career when the atmosphere was dampened by personnel clashes.

However, the situation appears to have improved since the departure of bassist Frankie Poullain.

Stereoboard.com quotes Hawkins as saying: "It wasn't a nice situation. There was a wedge being driven between myself and my brother (Dan, the band's guitarist) and that's the relationship I've had with him all his life. It really was an awful, awful environment."

"You've got to be a band that has longevity and enjoys your career and if that involves a personnel change then so be it. You musn't let anyone stand in the way of what's the best job in the world."

The Darkness' second album is set for a mid-October release.
