Tom Cruise's behaviour 'shocking'

Actress Lauren Bacall has voiced her opinion of the media furore over Tom Cruise's relationship to Katie Holmes in the run-up to the release of his movie War of the Worlds.

"His whole behaviour is so shocking," she told . "It's inappropriate and vulgar and absolutely unacceptable to use your private life to sell anything commercially, but I think it's kind of a sickness."

Aside from his way of promoting his work, Cruise is apparently not too hot in the acting department either. "When you talk about a great actor, you're not talking about Tom Cruise," she stated.

The Associated Press reports that Bacall is similarly unimpressed with Cruise's ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, with whom she co-starred in Birth. When an interviewer referred to Kidman as 'a legend', Bacall snapped: "She's not a legend. She can't be a legend at whatever age she is. ... You have to be older."
