The mother of the late pop superstar made the comments to The Sun on the first anniversary of his death by injection of surgical anaesthetic propofol.
Katherine said: "I know Michael did not die of natural causes. Someone did this to him. Mean, evil, vicious people didn't want him around for some reason. It just shows how vicious people are and greedy for money.
"He told me several times that he felt that people wanted him gone, wanted him dead. He would always say that. And for him to say that he must have known something. But his death has brought the family closer.
"The main thing I'd want to know is, what really happened. A year has gone by but it is still just as emotional. It's very hard sometimes."
She added: "I am happy that people are celebrating the anniversary because I know the world is missing and remembering my son.
"I'm happy because I know Michael would have been happy to see his fans still worshipping him. But every day is a struggle - I miss him immensely. There is not a day that goes by that we don't think about Michael. We will never forget him."
Michael's sister La Toya has suggested that her brother was killed for the rights to his back catalogue.
