The son of the late Farrah Fawcett has been granted special leave from rehab to visit her grave for the first time.

WENN reports that Redmond O'Neal was allowed out of the drug treatment centre in California on Friday to pay his respects on the first anniversary of his mother's death from cancer.

O'Neal, who had been serving a jail sentence when Fawcett passed away on June 25 last year, said: "It was very nice, very beautifully set up. I'm just happy that I'm able to be there for her and let her know I'm doing all right."

He also joined family members, including his father and Fawcett's long-term partner Ryan O'Neal, at the relaunch of her charity The Farrah Fawcett Foundation.

Ryan O'Neal recently praised Redmond's commitment to turning his life around following his mother's death.
