Cheryl Cole will not be changing her surname back to Tweedy, according to close sources.

The News of the World claims that the 'Parachute' singer will keep her name, despite previous reports that she has chosen to adopt her maiden name following her divorce from England footballer Ashley Cole.

A source close to the singer also said that Cole was unaware that Simon Cowell would introduce her as Cheryl Tweedy during audtions for The X Factor last week.

"Cheryl had no idea Simon was going to say that," the source said. "It wasn't planned and she was shocked.

"She's Cheryl Cole now and has spent years building up a successful brand - she's not prepared to turn her back on it. Tweedy doesn't feel right."
