According to MTV News, the singer will open up about her family tragedy in an episode of VH1's Behind The Music which airs tonight.
The star's mother Darnell Donerson and brother Jason Hudson were discovered shot dead at Donerson's home in Chicago in October 2008. The body of Julian King, 7, was found three days later in a car.
William Balfour - the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia - has been charged with the murders.
The episode of Behind The Music will chart Hudson's rise from American Idol contestant to Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-winning actress, as well as focusing on her life with fiance David Otunga and their son David Jr.
Hudson previously thanked fans for their messages of support following the tragedy, saying that the family took "great comfort and strength" from their prayers.
She has yet to comment on the Behind The Music report.
