Lawrence Hilton told US Weekly that Prince, Paris and Blanket find it hard dealing with his death.
"They're holding on and trying to do what they can by the graces of God," he said.
Hilton, who starred in The Jacksons: An American Dream, made the comments at a memorial service for the singer on Saturday.
"You don't get over it," he said. "You know, it's their daddy. How do you do it? They're very young, so it's got to be difficult... It's gonna take one day at a time, moment to moment and eventually they'll get there."
Michael's children were reportedly on holiday in Hawaii as fans marked the one-year anniversary of his death on June 25.
