Dean McDermott 'in intensive care'

Dean McDermott has been recovering in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a punctured lung.

The reality star crashed his dirt bike on Tuesday while riding with friends and was rushed to hospital with a heavily bleeding puncture wound on his right side, reports People.

"He's in a lot of pain," said wife Tori Spelling.

"He's taking this as a sign and realising family is too important to risk his life."

This is the second accident this year for the 43-year-old. He previously suffered a bruised bone and scapula in a January crash.

McDermott thanked fans for their supportive messages on his Twitter account on Thursday.

"Thanks for the well wishes. A collapsed lung is no fun, and is a lengthy heal. Feeling pretty bad today. Day 2 is always the worst," he wrote.
