Poll names Bullock 'favourite American'

Sandra Bullock has been chosen by voters of a recent poll as their favourite American, while Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were named as the most embarrassing.

The Oscar-winning actress topped the PopEater and Insider joint poll, which celebrates American Independence Day, with 63% of the vote. Chatshow host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey finished in a distant second with 24%.

Meanwhile The Hills couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who are in the process of getting divorced, were given the dubious honour of being named the most embarrassing Americans after receiveing 37% of the votes cast in a separate survey.

They were followed by Tiger Woods, who will reportedly pay out a $100 million (£65 million) divorce settlement to his ex-wife after a series of well-documented affairs, and reality star Jon Gosselin, in second and third place respectively.
