Rob Lowe and business partner Tom Barrack have reportedly put in a bid to purchase Miramax Films.

According to TMZ, the deal could go through today, making Lowe a co-owner of the indie production company.

The pair have a plan to create "a multi-platform media company, similar to DreamWorks" if the deal is successful.

Miramax's film library includes titles such as Pulp Fiction, The Piano and Swingers.

Disney put the former New York-based company up for sale earlier this year after folding it into its parent studio in Burbank.
