Vanessa Feltz has admitted that she feels "slightly ashamed" about having a gastric band fitted.
The TV and radio presenter, who revealed that she was having the surgery last month, claimed that she has already lost 20lbs thanks to the operation.
Speaking on This Morning, she said: "I feel absolutely fine, but weird though because obviously a great part of my life with my partner Ben and my gorgeous girls was eating and cooking and inviting people over... and that's pretty much gone now so it's slightly peculiar."
Explaining why she went public with her decision to have the band fitted, Feltz commented: "I've presented lots of programmes where people have been very honest with me about their lives and feelings, and I did not want to suddenly burst forward as this gorgeous size 14, and for people to think she must be dieting or exercising, I thought that would be deeply unfair and I wanted to tell the truth."
She added: "But I'm not proud of this by the way, I do feel slightly ashamed of the whole thing... I feel I should've been able to do it by myself. But what happened was, I came out of my work one morning at the radio show, and I bumped into a fella I've known all my life since I was 17, and he'll forgive me for saying this, but he was always a chubby chops and he was totally different.
"He was slim and tall and looked at least 20 years younger! He looked amazing and he said 'gastric band' and handed me a leaflet and name of a surgeon. And I thought I don't fancy that and put it in my pocket. But I left it in my pocket and that was the indication. If I really wasn't interested I would've thrown it away, but I didn't throw it away."
Going into details about the procedure, she told hosts Peter Andre and Kate Thornton: "It's an operation that they do through your belly button. It's keyhole surgery... so there aren't scares or anything like that and it's quite non-invasive - they just put a ring around it and it is reversible if you ever wanted to get it taken out. Although I hope I never do.
"First week was just liquids, second week was pureed food and this week was mushed up fish and stuff like that... I'm a bit nervous about going back to solid foods because I'm losing weight so beautifully. But I'm already pleased with the results, and the target? I'd like to look comfortable in a size 12. So that's losing about five stone or something like that."
