Franz Ferdinand eye Christmas number one

Franz Ferdinand are planning an all-out assault on the charts this December.

Frontman Alex Kapranos explained: "It would be great to get the Christmas number one. I suppose we could even write something special for Christmas. I think 'Santa Loves Franz Ferdinand' sounds pretty good."

Meanwhile, bassist Bob Hardy suggested: "We could follow it up with 'The Easter Bunny And Franz'.???

Other contenders for the festive top spot include G4 and Cliff Richard, according to Gigwise.com.
