Mark Ruffalo has revealed that he has been warned not to seduce gay women by a paranoid lesbian interviewer.

Ruffalo told PopEater that during promotion of new film The Kids Are All Right, in which his character engages in a passionate affair with Julianne Moore's lesbian protagonist, he was threatened by a female interviewer who had taken his role a little too seriously.

"I was doing an interview with a woman on TV and afterward the woman said, 'By the way, I'm a lesbian, and you lay off our women'," Ruffalo said.

"At first, I thought she was kidding and then I realised she was really serious. She totally meant it. I was like, 'Are you kidding?'"

Ruffalo's co-star Moore confessed earlier this week to being stunned by the graphic nature of several sex scenes between the pair.
