Carrie Underwood has Southern wedding

Carrie Underwood has wed her hockey-playing fiancé Mike Fisher.

The 27-year-old country music singer and NHL star Fisher tied the knot in front of 250 family and friends yesterday at a luxury resort in Georgia.

Underwood's wedding planner told People that the event was "a spiritual expression of love" and described the couple, who got engaged in December after secretly dating for about a year, as "very special".

After the ceremony, the 'Cowboy Cassanova' singer and her new husband extended their gratitude to their guests, saying: "We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us.”

Speculation that the couple were about to get hitched had been rife after Underwood threw a bachelorette party in Las Vegas late last month.
