Roman Polanski victim endorses release

The woman at the centre of Roman Polanski's sex with a minor case has said that she is satisfied with Switzerland's decision not to extradite him to the US.

Samantha Geimer, now in her 40s, has long asked for the case against the filmmaker to be dropped.

"I am satisfied with this decision and I hope that the district attorney will now close the case and get it over once and for all," Geimer told French radio station Europe 1.

Polanski fled the US before sentencing in 1978 after pleading guilty to the charge of having sex with an underage girl the year before.

The director has now been released from house arrest.
